Know Him for Life

If God suddenly appeared at your front door and revealed that He wishes to meet with your wife or husband for some unarticulated reason, how would you respond? Allow me. The following represents two most common reactions in an unexpected visitor scenario. You would probably do one of these two:

1. Stunned and unfamiliar, softly close the door and stumble through the house to fetch the requested member. Or,

2. Excitedly and immediately invite the visitor inside while you summon your family member.

Think about it. How would you naturally respond to an unexpected visitor declaring he'd like to speak with one of your household members? The basic determinant of your response almost always rests on weather you know the visitor. So, do you know God? Would you kindly let Him in or rather adversely close the door in His face due to your vague but true reluctance to accommodate an unfamiliar face, even though you are well aware of His obvious eminence or perhaps, especially because of His known importance? Your next question should look somewhat like this: How can I recognize if I really know Him?

Scripture shows us how to realize the status of our association with Him. In John 14:7 Jesus speaks, "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him." Philip, His disciple, replied, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us" (John 14:8). Then Jesus said, "have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'show us the Father'" (John 14:9)? By this, Jesus is distinguishing His self as the full persona of God. Yet, Philip can't seem to get past his natural dependence on material evidence. He assumes a position that we all often take, which is that we expect to physically see what we are lead to believe. Jesus assists Philip by plainly stating, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father." Jesus is pointing the fact that righteousness doesn't necessarily come dressed in a shimmering gift box, or body. God represents through a spirit of holiness not usually viewed by the eyes' pupils, but rather through eyes of the soul, or spirit (kinda like the age ol' saying, an eye for an eye; however, differing in terms of meaning, lol.. We can look at it and say this way, spirit sees spirit and bodies see only bodies.) So, how might you or I become better adjusted to see through eyes of spirit, thus establish familiarity with God?

Place your foot in the door. Assume an entry-level mind set. Look to what you know instead of immersing your self deep into an area that you don't know. In doing, you will lessen any chance of confusion, frustration, and eventual renunciation of your superb quest. Therefore, first examine the natural environment. What's the one most respected natural source of spiritual information? The observable books of the Christian Bible, right? Exactly. It is as such, by scientific fact. Therefore, read the Bible.

In reading the Holy Bible, you can begin to sprout new wisdom. Yes, wisdom. The Bible comprises exactly what we need to become familiar with God, because God is the author. Jesus, the Son of God, becomes the light of enlightenment and your best friend as you delve into the gospels of Christ. There is nothing else like it! You will begin to understand God as Spirit and will, your self, emerge as a seeing spirit. Moreover, you will start to desire an inner dwelling of the Holy Spirit, which Jesus promises the Father will provide if you just ask. Once encompassed by the Spirit, you will experience an intimate relationship with God like you've never imagined possible. You will start to hear His soft, loving voice deep within your soul and know it is Him. That is when you know that you know...that you know...God. Jesus said in John 10:27, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." How would we ever know that unless we read what is written in the Bible?

You see, just as God recognized our humanistic need for a tangible source of insight in the time of Jesus, God also recognizes that same need today. When God took human form in Jesus, and Jesus illustrated God's self inhabitants to the disciples, it was as if God announced that here He came to us in a comprehensible manner to satisfy and enable us to believe in that which is unseen. He knew we needed a natural source to lead us to the spiritual waters. He knew we were at such a lowly level of spiritual understanding that we needed His natural existence to walk us to the well of awareness. Today, God's holy presence remains with us in the natural through the Christian Bible. The scriptures provide a tangible source of spiritual teachings, which come directly from God through inspired words of knowledge. In it, Jesus speaks to you and me just as He spoke to the disciples of His time. It's the most marvelous piece of writing ever produced! Go now, find what you are missing in Him, so when He comes to YOUR door, you won't be surprised and shut him out like an unwelcome stranger. That would be the worst mistake of your life!

If an individual overlooks the Holy Scripture, he/she dismisses the meaning of life. Similarly, you cannot live your life purposefully without it, and without it, one day, you will die.

Halloween-how do YOU see it?

Is Halloween an evil cult holiday or is it what some might describe as a simple, harmless day of tradition composed of rituals adopted by unintelligible pagans, way back in B.C.?

HA! there must be a mistake in that statement. What is that, a trick question? Well, no. Quite honestly, the second description is the way most people tend to view Halloween. Okay, so what's the difference between the first description and the second, besides the obvious conflicting opinions of different authors looking at the same page of history? That's just it! It's a difference in perspective about traditional values and religious faith. Now, you might wonder, what does most current day society propose about traditional moralistic values? For purpose of simplicity, which I like (a lot), we'll divide the people into just two categories, those who believe in spiritual warfare, and those who don't. Take a look at those who do, first.

Those who believe an invisible battle is taking place between good and evil in "real-time" view the day of "all hallows" like this. There exists an appointment when every person will have to give account of their deeds to the Most High with hope of redemption from mean spirited people on earth (hehe, kiddin'). Generally, they believe that all activities clashing with positive energy should be fervently avoided. Therefore, recognizing this so-called holiday's traditional form of celebration, we find that it conflicts with what these folks' inspired scriptures regard as good, for example, 1. Invoking the dead, 2. Respecting the dead, 3. Worshiping idols, 4, Altering the mind, and 5. Impersonating ogres. All of those are felt to deflect positive energy, good thoughts, and progressive actions. So, how do non-believers (or those who believe in multiple deities) perceive the traditional holiday?

Well, they tend to think of their selves as gods. Therefore, they don't have to answer to anyone for any reason. Heaven and Hell don't exist, and moral values are merely extensions of every person's self-conscience, which develops, by the way, out of conducive atoms in the atmosphere. These people will say that no one really dies; no, they just shed their tired bodies and receive new ones, which biological processes regularly supply. Most naturally believe they possess ownership of their own moral directives and that there exist no serious life and death consequences to their decisions. Therefore, as long as these individuals determine their judgments suitable for self respect, they will resume life the way nature intends. Then these folks will claim that pagan traditions are important to us today because they define human history, which basically symbolizes that which is responsible for whom we've become. They will further proclaim that continued participation in all those holiday rituals provides nothing more than a way to honor our ancestors and to indulge in a day of fun filled activities. Really!, they'll say, there seems no harm in dressing up in ghoulish costumes and exchanging bags of candy. Okay, so what's wrong with this? Next.

The problem with the second point of view is it fails to explain two major points. The first is who authorized their personal ownership of judgment? If there truly is a "proper," or right-and-wrong element to the way we live life, how can an accurate measure of that element be drawn in order to distinguish its existence when everyone satisfies their own interests through individual justification? Can life really resume perpetually without that definition? The second point is in order to claim that we should honor our ancestors in light of the "history" they produced for us, shouldn't we examine where our ancestors came from? Who created them? If not God, then whom? Where did the atmospheric elements that supposedly formed our intelligence come from? Who assembled them in their magnificent, manifested order? Such questions must be asked and concluded if we are to have a real shot at recognizing any truths at all.

But then, maybe many of you are lingering somewhere in the middle of this issue, maybe you believe, but. My question to you is this: If you were to remove your "but," what would be left?

Halloween Places of Interest

Do you know:

According to 2008 population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2009, these are the hot spots for Halloween enthusiasts...

Transylvania County, N.C.
Tombstone, Ariz.
Pumpkin Center, N.C.
Cape Fear in New Hanover County, N.C.
Skull Creek, Neb. (Halloween Stats)

I think the names of these places say it all. Halloween indulges the evil hearted, and of course, the pumpkin lovers..not so sure that one implies anything of a dark side. It must be the division of those who enjoy the ripe treats of the season. :)

New-age Paranormal Trend

Well, let me see. There are so many things to write about that it's difficult to choose just one. Let me go with...umm, paranormal phenomena. Yeah, sure, why not.

Why do folks act like this is new news? Paranormal phenomena has been around for many centuries. Difference now is that people are more accepting of it. Back in prehistoric times, those who dabbled in such strange happenings were burned at the stake. They were called witches and were scorned for their activities, activities which generally provoked spirits to interact with the living. That type thing was thought evil in light of main-stream folk. So what happened to that idea? Why are people so frankly attracted to paranormal activity now days? Is it the unusualness that grabs folk by the neck or is it an attraction to a notion of pure evil. Do people want to inscribe to evil doings? Do they desire evil like they had never before? If so, what's the cause for the switch in attitude among most of society. Once, evil was bad, but now, evil looks like the new-age good. What's this all about? Can anyone?.....

none

This is so awesome! I love this site! Now if only I had something at the top of my head to write about I'd be in business.
